Description
The Giant Defy Advanced Pro (2026) is a premium carbon endurance road bike built for riders who believe the best rides are the longest ones.
It’s a premium Endurance road bike build designed for experienced riders. Or those who prefer to buy once and not upgrade parts over time.
The Defy Advanced Pro 0 frame has the best stiffness-to-weight ratio out of any Defy to date. It pairs to a complete Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset complete with Giant Power Pro power meter. The Pro 0 build rolls on fast and versatile Giant SLR 0 carbon wheels.
Who is the Defy Advanced Pro 0 for?
For those that want the best mix of comfort, speed and value.
The Pro 0 build suits riders upgrading from an older carbon or alloy road bike.
And:
Your preference is to upgrade to something with Shimano Ultegra Di2 electronic gears. Plus, a power meter and premium carbon wheels.
Or:
You may have just started riding but want to upgrade to a road bike that’s comfortable, stable handling and calm. Not racy or aggressive. Plus, you don’t want to upgrade parts over time. You’re prepared to make that slightly higher initial investment.
Lightweight Carbon. Functional Simplicity.
The Advanced-grade carbon frame follows Giant’s “less is more” philosophy. Removing unnecessary complexity while maximising efficiency and comfort.
The result is one of the lightest frames in its category.
Delivering responsive acceleration without sacrificing the smooth ride quality endurance riders demand.
This latest generation Defy frame has the best stiffness-to-weight ratio. Its 11.2% improvement comes down to a lighter frame (153 grams) while slightly increasing stiffness (0.2%).
The frame is paired to Giant’s Advanced SL carbon fork. The SL grade of carbon is Giant’s lightest.
Shimano Ultegra Di2
A complete Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset controls brakes and gears.
As a second-tier level groupset, Ultegra Di2 offers similar performance to top-tier Dura-Ace. And replacement costs are only a fraction. Making it a premium workhorse groupset.
Like Dura-Ace, Ultegra’s cassette and chain use HG+ technology.
Specially designed teeth and ramps on the chain and cassette, helps the chain engage earlier. This create a smoother transition between gears – both upshift and downshift.
As an Endurance bike, gear range is wide and versatile.
A 50/34-tooth front chainring is paired to an 11-34 tooth rear cassette. New riders, or those not conditioned to riding mountains, will find the Defy Advanced Pro 0 easy to climb with. Plus, the ratios are good for flat and undulating terrain too.
Ultegra Di2 is semi-wireless, which is what gives the system a longer range compared to SRAM AXS bikes.
On a full charge expect to get around 1,500km depending on how often you shift. A front derailleur shift uses 4 times more power than the rear derailleur.
Charging takes 90 minutes with a AC USB adapter. Or if charging through a computer USB port, could take up to 3 hours.
Fast and versatile carbon wheels
Giant SLR 0 wheels feature carbon rims and aero carbon spokes. They are exceptionally light at just 1,340 grams and retail for $3,843 as a standalone wheelset.
High-strength aero carbon spokes reduce wheel flex for more efficient acceleration and climbing. Their aerodynamic shape improves stability in crosswinds (all without adding unnecessary weight).
Dynamic Balanced Lacing (DBL) creates a stiffer, more efficient wheel for better power transfer. Tall hub flanges improve spoke angles. This increases stiffness, helping more of your pedalling effort drive the bike forward.
A wide internal rim width of 22.4mm is perfectly designed for today’s modern range of wider tubeless tyres.
Speaking of which, the Defy Advanced Pro 0 comes with premium CADEX Classics tubless tyres. The Classics are an all-conditions tyre that has the best of all worlds. They are fast rolling, provide decent puncture protection and deliver outstanding grip.
The Defy Advanced Pro 0 comes with CADEX Classics tubeless tyres in 33.5mm wide. They’re a high-performance, all-conditions tyre. And deliver fast rolling efficiency, dependable puncture resistance, and outstanding grip in both dry and wet conditions.
