Description
The Fuji Rakan 29 1.7 is a full-suspension trail bike designed around one core idea – pedalling efficiency without sacrificing capability on the descent.
FRAME
The A6-SL super-butted alloy front and rear triangle is built around Fuji’s patented MLink suspension system, delivering 120mm of active rear travel that stays composed under power and responsive when the trail turns technical. Whether you’re tackling the switchbacks above Healesville, exploring the trails of the Macedon Ranges, or putting in long days on the Munda Biddi in WA, the Rakan’s suspension platform works with you, not against you.
WHEELS
29-inch wheels are the right call for this class of bike – the larger diameter rolls over trail debris more easily, maintains momentum through rough sections, and gives you a confidence-inspiring contact patch on loose Victorian dirt. The Alex DP30 tubeless-ready 32H rims are paired with Formula DC-511 and DC-3248 hubs laced with stainless spokes, offering a durable, reliable wheelset ready for conversion to tubeless. Maxxis Forecaster 29″ x 2.35″ tyres at 60tpi round out the rolling package, offering a versatile tread pattern well-suited to the mixed hardpack and loam conditions found across southern Australia’s trail networks.
SUSPENSION
An RST Vibe air fork with 140mm of travel and Boost 110x15mm axle spacing handles the front end, providing a light and adjustable suspension platform that complements the X-Fusion O2 Pro R rear shock. The additional travel up front gives the Rakan a slightly progressive geometry when descending – keeping the front wheel tracking accurately through corners and over obstacles alike.
DRIVETRAIN
The drivetrain runs a clean 1×11 Shimano Deore setup with Shadow Plus rear derailleur, a wide-range Sunrace 10-50T cassette, and KMC X11 chain. The Prowheel 30T crankset sits on an external cup threaded bottom bracket, keeping servicing simple. Tektro M275 hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors deliver reliable, consistent stopping power in all weather conditions – a necessity for riders who aren’t willing to let the calendar dictate their trail time.
COCKPIT
The cockpit is wide and confidence-inspiring: a 780mm TranzX alloy riser bar at 20mm rise, WTB Waffle Lock-On grips, and a zero-degree TranzX stem give you the leverage and control you want on Australian singletrack. A Selle San Marco Monza saddle sits atop a 31.6mm alloy seatpost, completing a trail-ready build that covers the full spectrum of what recreational and enthusiast riders need from a full-suspension 29er.
